You're probably wondering why I have a photo of Francoise Hardy under my fall post but it's because I really want my face to be like hers and it's hard, okay? That envy managed to mix with picturing myself as someone as cute as Francoise Hardy while I collaged away all of my fall/winter picks.
So here we go, put your cute French girl mask on and let's do this.
The Top Half
Sweaters are basically the best thing ever and when it's cold you better know I take advantage
of that by bundling myself in something as lovely and as perfect as a sweater. Sweaters are great, fuck
shirts guys, I mean it. Seriously, it's winter put a sweater on.
Looking at Alexa Chung, (modern Francoise Hardy, duh) she's been doing a pretty good job with
keeping it simple with something as classic as a Burberry honey colored trench coat. When it comes to coats I try to keep things simple, I'm not going to buy an oddly colored, patterned jacket because
I don't know about you but I can't afford to buy multiple coats to match only so many outfits.
Buy one black jacket and one trench coat and you're set, those two will be all you need in life.
I provided some of the shorter things in life (get it?) because like I said in the title I'm from California
so I basically can't wear long pants with a sweater until January. Seriously a sweater, closed toed shoes,
and pants is a lethal combination year round except for December, January, and February.
I'd wear any of these options with a pair of black stockings, ankle boots, a thin sweater slightly tucked in in the front and a cute necklace. You can even Diane Kruger it up when it comes to the first two skirts and wear a 90's esque cropped white sweater and a pair of pumps.
Sorry for my not very well organized pants collage but you get the just of it, right? Burgundy, khaki corduroys, khaki jeans, black pants, zipper detail, patterned pants. By winter I'm a bit over the whole
dark washed jeans so these are all very refreshing. I admit patterned pants can be hard to pull off but if you pick a good pair that you really love then do it. I do recommend keeping it simple if you do go for the pattern by pairing them with a good cream colored sweater and a pair of black heeled ankle boots, no accessories because hello your pants have flowers on them those are your accessory.
Oxfords have been in for a while but lately I've been feeling major school girl vibes which is ironic
because I wore a uniform from 5th through 8th grade and it wasn't that awesome but now I can say I really love it. Pleated skirts, oxfords, stockings, a button up shirt and a vintage coat is a perfect combination. If
you want to go all the way pair it with a Mary Catherine Gallagher/Superstar-esque backpack and boom, you've transported yourself back to a private school set in 1992, pat yourself on the back because you're awesome and you did a good job.
I know I went pretty designer label whore when it came to my choices of bags and I know I have a problem but these bags are perfect. Don't stop looking at them.
I spend every winter night coating my face in tanamu oil and vaseline before bed just to survive the next day. If you haven't heard of tanamu oil it's basically the best thing around and I recommend you go on Amazon right now and get yourself some if you have dry skin or want to feel like a healthy skin goddess.
Besides the point, fall/winter accessories include hats, I purchased one at Target pretty similar to the one in the photo. Watches are back even the early thousands ones that you can probably find in a glass case in basically any Goodwill. A simple ring stack such as the one pictured, crescent shaped earrings and a gold/leather combo bracelet is the farthest I would go with jewelry in winter. Unless you're getting fancy then go at it.
For make-up I've been digging dark red lipstick and natural rosy looking cheeks that you can easily achieve with a creamy blush. If you're a person who's not in a lipstick mood I recommend trying these, my favorite is sheer berry pink. You can use them on your cheeks too!
xx
